9th August 2016
Kai-Yan Lai, 15 year old 2016 film winner, produced a film so original and fun for his YCA entry that judges lapped it up and pronounced him a winner.
Skeleton Productions sponsor the Film category for the Young Creative Awards and this year offered work experience to a lucky winner. Skeleton is a video agency based in Nottingham and their clients range from Boots to the NHS to the University of Nottingham. This year it was Kai-Yan who jumped at the chance to develop his skills and have an all-round great week.
Kai-Yan has been very active this summer, making sure his skills stay sharp and are constantly developing. Early July he attended the YouNG Market in West Bridgford where he was spotted filming aspects of the day; the YouNG team saw his other work online and asked him for a copy of the footage to use for promotional purposes. It seems at every opportunity Kai-Yan is filming his life. He even filmed aspects of the YCA event and captured his win on camera.
We spoke to Kai-Yan after his work experience and he said:
“This week has been a blast. I started off the week wanting to learn new skills and progress onto my dream job, to be an animator. The skills that I’ve learnt at Skeleton are going to be really helpful to me in the future, and now. I have gained more skills in animation and video editing, both of which I share a passion in. Hopefully I can come back for more!”
We want to say a huge thank you to Skeleton who, despite being very busy, made sure Kai-Yan got the most out of this week whilst supporting him through it.
