2012 – Nottingham Welcomes the World

In 2012, in the year of the London Olympics and the Cultural Olympiad, Nottingham played host to the first World Event Young Artists (WEYA). The World Event Young Artists was the very first event of its kind, bringing a staggering 1,000 young artists from 120 nations to Nottingham; celebrating the talent and artistic excellence of young people from across the globe.

Nottingham’s Young Creative Awards kicked off this exciting year, celebrating the range of world events, and our vibrant, multicultural city. The brief was to show us the ways in which entrants’ work reflected our diverse city and how our vibrant multicultural city welcomes the world.
