Ever fancied yourself as a rap battler?

Join this laid-back workshop as we deconstruct jokes and rhyming verses, sticking them back together again in a no-pressure, no-judgment environment. We’ll play around with dissing animals for fun. Perfect for anyone who wants to try out some wordplay.


About Bridie Squires
Bridie Squires is a writer, editor, performance artist and educator from Nottingham. Once Editor of LeftLion Magazine, she was appointed as Nottingham Trent University's first Writer in Residence in 2019 and in 2020 founded GOBS Collective – a talent development programme for emerging spoken-word artists. She was a Producer for Nottingham Poetry Festival, and has been commissioned for creative work by BBC Radio 4 and BBC Sounds. She has performed at We Out Here Festival, Nottingham Playhouse, Karlsruhe’s Staatstheatre, among many other venues. Bridie produced a one-woman loop-station show Casino Zero, funded by Arts Council England. She is an undefeated rap battler.

About Young Creatives Nottingham
Founders of the Young Creative Awards, Young Creatives Nottingham (registered charity number 1168804) champion the development of the city’s budding artists through workshops, mentorship and showcase opportunities. Since its inception in 2009, Nottingham’s Young Creative Awards has been an annual fixture in the city’s calendar: a big, bright burst of originality; inspiring, supporting and celebrating young creative talent in Nottingham. Over 4,500 entries, more than 350 awards. The annual competition is open to 11-24 year-olds working, living or studying in Nottingham.
