As well as providing the red carpet rush of the awards ceremony itself, we always aim to give Young Creative Awards winners experiences and opportunities to support their ongoing education and career development.

22 year-old Charlotte Ashley was the Young Creative Awards 2019 winner in the Graphic Design category (19 – 24 age group); the judges commended the accomplished series of children’s books highlighting chronic health conditions that Charlotte designed, which showed careful research and perfect execution.

The Graphic Design award was sponsored by Nottingham College and judged by ecommerce design and marketing agency JH

As part of her award, Charlotte recently visited the team at JH for a design immersion day, learning all about JH’s industry, projects and skills.

Charlotte said: “I had a great day gaining an insight into what JH do and participating in workshop activities similar to those they run with their clients. I now have a much clearer vision of what ecommerce design is and how agencies run. I also really enjoyed seeing their office space and hearing about the different roles within the company. Joe has also offered me monthly mentoring sessions which I am extremely grateful for at this stage in my career.”

Joseph Russell, Head of Design at JH added: “We believe our industry has a responsibility to help nurture the next generation of talent and showcase the career opportunities in Nottingham. That’s why JH has spent years providing local meetups, lectures, mentoring, and work experience. We’re pleased to also be judging the Young Creative Awards, especially when we see work like Charlotte’s. It stood out for tackling the stigma of chronic diseases in a creative way that we could see being a real-world awareness campaign.”

Well done to Charlotte, and thank you so much to JH for such brilliant support!
