Young Creatives Nottingham, Nottingham Lakeside Arts and Dance4 have come together to present some of the best young talent in Nottingham, for an evening of performances at Lakeside’s Djanogly Theatre.

Kate O’Gorman
YCA 2022 Theatre Winner (19-24 category)
Kate will be performing a monologue from Simon Stephen’s ‘RAGE’, Scene 10, p.28-29, taking on the character Woman Who Can See Under The World. Finding moments of creativity and being able to perform again has brought so much joy and comfort to Kate in the past few years. She has learned a lot about herself as a performer, and how to emerge as a young creative in the industry.
Lily Reyes & Maia Dajas-Portillo
YCA 2022 Dance Winners (11-15 Category)
Lily and Maia perform their duet based on the painting Yellow-Red-Blue by Wassily Kandinsky. Through their piece, the dancers wanted to show the movement which they saw in the painting, focusing on the lines and solid block shapes. This year’s YCA judges were impressed with the choreographic choices, form of the work and the performances of both dancers.
Samuel Onwuteaka
YCA 2022 Dance Winner (16-18 Category)
Samuel choreographed and performed a solo titled Want, based on the struggles of someone going through a relationship that is falling apart. The solo was performed with great commitment and passion and this year’s YCA judges were impressed with how Samuel commanded the space and performed with his own personal style.
Muskan Goyal
YCA 2022 Music Winner (11-15 Category)
Muskan will be performing a violin piece. Using a blend of waltz and tango, switching between major and minor, styles and time signatures means there’s never a boring moment in this piece full of unexpected twists and turns!
Samantha Atkinson
YCA 2021 Music Winner (16-18 Category)
Samantha will be performing Ocean of Gold, with a special feature from a hang drum artist – a fellow artist from the Royal Birmingham Conservatoire, no less!

Bridie Squires
YCA 2014 Creative Writing Winner Bridie Squires is a writer, editor, performance artist and educator from Nottingham. Previously Editor of LeftLion Magazine, she was appointed as Nottingham Trent University's first Writer in Residence and is now Creative Director of GOBS Collective – a talent development programme for emerging spoken-word artists. In 2019, Bridie was awarded funding from Arts Council England to develop her first full-length, one-person performance, Casino Zero.
Jamal Sterrett Phoenix
YCA 2015 Double Winner (Dance & Graphic Design). Jamal is a longstanding friend and Patron of the Young Creative Awards. He is a performance artist, a visual artist and a filmmaker from St Anns, Nottingham. He has achieved national acclaim for his unique blend of BRUK UP and FLEX dancing.
