Free Creative Workshops for 11-24 year-olds in 2023

Fancy a go at puppet making, rap battling, song writing, acting or bruk-up dance?

Young Creatives Nottingham is proud to present a workshop series across January and February 2023, featuring award-winning practitioners to guide you through fun sessions suitable for beginners.

Expect Cassie Bradley, ROB.GREEN, Jamal Sterrett, Bridie Squires and Nikki Charlesworth in venues across Nottingham, serving up knowledge about their crafts – all completely for free, for anyone aged 11 – 24.

Puppet Making with Nikki Charlesworth

Saturday 7 January, 2.30pm – 5.30pm
11-24 year-olds

Using five found materials, make a puppet following demonstrations in crafting and manipulation.

Explore rhyme, word-play and crafting jokes in a no-pressure environment full of furry friends.

Singers, rappers and spoken-word artists are all welcome to this workshop that looks at exploring lyrics, melody and storytelling through music.

Bruk-Up Dance with Jamal Sterrett

Learn the fundamentals of bruk-up, including isolation techniques, popping, gliding and footwork.

About Young Creatives Nottingham

Founders of the Young Creative Awards, Young Creatives Nottingham (registered charity number 1168804) champion the development of the city’s budding artists through workshops, mentorship and showcase opportunities. Since its inception in 2009, Nottingham’s Young Creative Awards has been an annual fixture in the city’s calendar: a big, bright burst of originality; inspiring, supporting and celebrating young creative talent in Nottingham. Over 4,500 entries, more than 350 awards. The annual competition is open to 11-24 year-olds working, living or studying in Nottingham.
