Young Creatives At Home

It gives us great pleasure to launch the brand new Young Creatives At Home programme. Young Creatives At Home is a series of specially commissioned online workshops, videos and creative activities produced by Young Creative Awards winners and associates, to generate and share positivity in response to the Covid-19 crisis.

Young Creatives At Home activities – which we will be sharing via our social media channels throughout May and June – will provide opportunities for young people to develop their creativity, improve their wellbeing, learn new skills and have fun.

The first Young Creatives At Home project is a series of short, practical dance tutorial videos by 22 year-old dancer, artist and cinematographer, Jamal Sterrett.

Jamal – who was a Young Creative Award winner in 2015 – will introduce viewers to FLEXN, a unique style of street dance which originated in Brooklyn, New York.

Jamal’s series of specially made videos will help viewers to create their own FLEXN dances – whilst at home – and will be premiered via the Young Creative Awards Facebook over the week of 11 May.

Forthcoming Young Creatives At Home commissions include workshops and activities in songwriting, embroidery, photography, riso printing, portraiture, graphic design, acting and creative writing.

Young Creatives At Home is generously supported by SerifNottingham BIDNottingham Community Housing Association and Arts Council England.
