Autumn Opportunities for Young Creatives

Read on to find out about a whole host of opportunities for Young Creatives coming up over the next few weeks, including workshops, training, funding and a chance to see your words in print...

Free Half Term Creative Fun
Our good friends at Young Hustlers (the youth branch of Nottingham’s legendary Hockley Hustle) have a brilliant programme of FREE workshops taking place this October half term. This is your chance to learn new skills in beatboxing, acting, song-writing, poetry, activism, street art and more. Follow this link for all the details. All workshops and events will be streamed live on the Young Hustlers Facebook page and website.

Funding for Young Creatives
The Youth Cultural Life Fund is a new funding programme run by The Mighty Creatives for young people aged 14 – 21 who live in the East Midlands. Funding of £250 and £500 is available for young people who want to use their creative skills to have a positive impact on your local community. They are looking for young people to come up with creative ideas that tackle some of the challenges that we are all experiencing at the moment. Maybe you want to design and print a zine full of photographs and poems to inspire people in your local community? Or organise for a professional artist to come to your school to talk about their career? Or make a short film? Or record a song? The deadline for applications is 28 October 2020. Follow this link to find out more

See Your Words in Print
Letters of Solidarity is a creative project being run by Nottingham UNESCO City of Literature. They are looking for young people from Nottingham aged 14 to 25 to write a letter about 2020 - the virus, lockdown, being off school/college/university, on furlough, or simply about what you've been up to at home. It's a really great opportunity - with an excellent chance to get published in an anthology which is due for release in February 2021. The deadline is 5pm, Monday 2nd November. If you are stuck for ideas there is a useful activity pack with prompts to help you get started, which you can download by following this link.

Making New Friends
Nottingham-based arts organisation UK New Artists have a great opportunity coming up for young people aged 14-18. Making New Friends is a virtual get-together and masterclass with Agnes Ársælsdóttir (Iceland) and Bianca Hisse (Norway/Brazil); both international artists working across performance, music, visual arts and dance. This is a fantastic chance to learn about Agnes and Bianca's artistic journeys, and gain an insight into what it's like to be an artist in their home countries. There will be two sessions – Tuesday 27 October (5pm-6pm) and Tuesday 3 November (5pm-6pm) – which will each take place via Zoom. Spaces are limited and should be booked in advance at the following links:
